Allegri was 1 of 5 coaches who turned down Barca job
Massimiliano Allegri was just one of five coaches to step down as Barcelona coach before Quique Setien was appointed, according to Spanish daily AS.
The Spanish daily reports that the former Juventus coach was one of the candidates to replace Ernesto Valverden, who was sacked on 13 January.
In addition to the Italian, the post of Barcelona coach was offered to Xavi, Koeman, Mauricio Pochettino and Garcia Pimentas, before Setien accepted.
AS claims Allegri was Barca’s fourth choice shortly after Pochettinos rejected the offer.
Speaking at a ceremony this week, Allegri had said he did not miss the job of coach at the moment.
“I don’t miss the jewelery either, at least not for the time being. We’ll see what happens in the future,” Allegri said.
