Ancelotti vacates office, Gattuso to hold first training with Napoli today
Carlo Ancelotti has vacated his office at the Naples training center as Gennaro Gattuso will lead the training session scheduled for today.
Coach Carlo Ancelotti was sacked by Napoli on Tuesday night, just hours after a 4-0 win over Genk, which secured the Italian club’s qualification for the Champions League qualifying round.
The decision was announced to Ancelotti by President Aurelio de Laurentiis at the Hotel Vesvio, often used as an office by the Italian club.
Sky Sport Italy have confirmed that Ancelotti visited Naples training center Castel Volturno this morning and has vacated his office. The players had not been present since their training was postponed for the afternoon.
This will give Napoli time to formalize Gattuso as the new coach and for the Milan legend to lead the squad at the session at 2:30 pm. Whereas, a press conference is organized at 18:00.
All of Ancelotti’s staff have been dismissed, so Gattuso will work with a technical staff of his own in preparation for Saturday’s match against Parma.
This weekend’s match is very important, as Napoli and Parma currently share the seventh position in the Serie A table, with 21 points each.
