Another failure of Juventus, stopped by Torino in the city derby
Juventus has taken another big step back and perhaps decisively in trying to defend the Serie A title, after being stopped by a dramatic 2: 2 draw by Torino in the city derby on Saturday.
It was needed a goal from Cristiano Ronaldo in the 80th minute to avoid Juventus losing for the second time in a row, as Antonio Sanabria had scored twice for Torino’s lead after the whites had taken the lead through Federico Chiesa at the Olympic Stadium.
This slide means that Inter can increase their lead against Juventus to 12 points at the top of the league table, if they beat Bologna.
Juventus have dropped to fourth place with 56 points after 28 games, while Torino are 17th with 24 points, just two away from relegation.
In an energetic match, Chiesa put the reigning champions in the lead after just 13 minutes of play.
Sanabria equalized in the 27th minute, scoring with a header from a ball returned to the area, before giving Torino the lead in the 46th minute in a quick local counterattack.
After many attempts, Ronaldo equalized the score and consequently saved Juventus in the 80th minute.
