Bakambu finds out Barcelona have pulled plug on transfer while on plane to Spain
Cedric Bakambu has joked about the failure of his move to Barcelona after the Catalan club canceled the deal while the player was on a plane to Spain.
Barcelona are reported to have reached an agreement with Chinese club Beijing Guoan to transfer Cedric Bakambu on loan by the end of the season.
Kondo’s representative was forced to change two planes to go to Spain after he had been in South Korea when he was invited to go to Spain to sign with Barcelona.
Bakambu had arrived in Hong Kong before receiving a call from Barcelona sports director Eric Abidal.
Abidal had made it clear to Bakambus that the deal had been canceled and the footballer used his official Twitter account to give cause.
“Hey @Transfermarkt, change my transfer history to ‘almost in Barcelona’ please. Whatever happens, we trust the process. Thank God for everything. See you again @AntoGriezmann,” wrote Bakambu.
The Transfermarkt website also saw the situation as an opportunity to make fun of it and returned the response to Bakambus with an edited photo of the site, where Barcelona is listed on the 28-year-old’s club list.
Bakambu had played with Antoine Griezmann during the time they were both part of the France national youth team.
