Barca were stunned by Martinez last night, ready to pay 111m euros for him
Barcelona bosses have been stunned by the appearance of Inter striker Lautaro Martinez in last night’s Champions League clash, so they are ready to activate the clause for his € 111m purchase.
Martinez failed to score against Barca but was a constant threat in an effort to help Inter remain in the Champions League. He had, however, scored in the first game between the two clubs at the Camp Nou in October.
He assisted in the goal of Romelu Lukaku, who was on a temporary draw at San Siro after Inter were finally defeated.
The Argentine striker has a € 111m release clause in his deal with Inter, which, however, is active only in the first two weeks of July.
Inter are working to renew Martinez’s contract, hoping to completely remove the release clause.
Barca see the 22-year-old as an ideal replacement for Luis Suarez, who is 33 and has just 18 months on the current deal.
