Barcelona has missed the golden opportunity for the title in La Liga.

The Catalans had the opportunity from this remaining match with Granada, to take the first place in the La Liga rankings and to continue ahead with their matches to be declared champions.

But the math did not go well as they, surprisingly, were defeated 1-2 at the Camp Nou from Granada.

Barcelona started the match well, where after several cases, Lionel Messi found the goal for 1-0 in the 24th minute.

Either way, in the second half, it seemed as if two different teams came out on the field, Barca less clinical and Granada more aware of what they wanted.

Darwin Machis managed to score in the 63rd minute, to equalize everything.

Immediately, two minutes later, Ronald Koeman was sent off in red after ongoing protests.

And apparently this affected the locals since they were looking for the lead goal, they suffered another.

Jorge Molina, in the 79th minute, shocked the locals by scoring for the final score, 2-1.

From the opportunity to take the lead in La Liga, Barca has now remained in third place with 71 points, as much as Real in the second, while leading Atletico with 73.
