Belgium coach: Lukaku and Mertens will not play the whole match against Belarus
Belgium coach Roberto Martinez says Romelu Lukaku will not play 90 minutes against Belarus tomorrow and offers an update on Dries Mertens’ condition.
Belgium defeated Wales in the opening of the World Cup qualifiers and got a draw against the Czech Republic on Saturday.
They will face Belarus at home tomorrow.
“Lukaku and De Bruyne will be included in the game, but what I can already say is that they will not play 90 minutes, that is for sure because they have already given a lot in the first two games.” said the Belgium coach at a press conference.
Napoli striker Mertens suffered a minor shoulder injury on Saturday and Atletico Madrid winger Ferreira Carrasco is also not 100 percent fit.
“They should be able to attend this afternoon’s training session. We will see how they feel and whether they will be able to play.”
