Boateng to Rome, the defender intends to work with Mourinho

Jerome Boateng has left Bayern Munich as a free agent.

The German center-back stayed in Munich for 10 years, but eventually left as he was no longer in the Bavarian club’s plans.

The 32-year-old is expected to try once again an adventure outside of Germany and offers are no longer lacking.

Italian media report that the player’s agent is already in talks with the Italian giant Roma.

It was the Portuguese coach of Rome, Jose Mourinho who asked the club’s management to bring the German closer to the team.

Mourinho had asked for the German defender two years ago while he was at Manchester United.

“I called Mourinho on the phone and told him that his interest in me was an honor and I thanked him for trying so hard to get me. I told him it was difficult to leave Bayern and if he did he should do it with the understanding of the club,” Boateng said two years ago.

Now that the player is free, the Italian media report that he has Roma as his first choice, but also the offer of the capitals should be high.

Boateng this season has shown high form, where he has played 39 games with Bayern, as he has scored two goals and assisted in another.
