Casemiro: “I wanted Neymar to join Real Madrid”
Brazilian Real Madrid midfielder Casemiro has revealed that he wanted to see his compatriot Neymar in the shirt of “Los Blancos”, after qualifying him as a wonderful player.
During last summer’s transfer deadline, Neymar was rumored to be a potential transfer to the Santiago Bernabeu or Camp Nou. Casemiro has announced that he was hoping that the Brazilian, who eventually stayed in Paris Saint-Germain, would pass to the Spanish capital.
“I wanted Neymar to come to Real Madrid, I talked to him almost every day. He’s a great player,” Casemiro said in an interview with Spanish media Onda Cero.
In this interview, Casemiro was also asked about his goals this season with Real Madrid and indicated which trophy takes priority over the available ones – the Champions League and La Liga.
“The league shows that it has been in good shape consistently throughout the year because there are matches every weekend,” Casemiro added.
“But when you hear the Champions League anthem at the Santiago Bernabeu, Madrid look different. I prefer the Champions League.”
However, Casemiro has said that his personal goal is not trophies, but he aims to get the ball to his opponents as often as possible.
“For me, the goal is to take the ball to the opponent, as the Bernabeu celebrates it the same way,” he explained.
“You can really enjoy football, no matter what position you play, my goal is to steal the ball. I enjoy this and I want to help my teammates.”
