Cristiano Ronaldo loses first final since 2013
Cristiano Ronaldo lost his first final after seven years of being unbeaten in the final match until Lazio defeated Juventus 3:1 on Sunday in the Italian Super Cup final.
The Portuguese superstar immediately grabbed the silver medal and fled straight to the dressing room, not expecting to see Lazio lifting the Italian Super Cup trophy.
Lazio convincingly beat Juventus 3:1 in Riyadh and won this trophy for the second time in three years, again against the Bianconeri.
It is understandable that Ronaldo was not entirely sure what protocol to follow as a loser in a ceremony like this, because he had not experienced such a thing for seven years.
The last time Ronaldo was on the losing side in a final was May 17, 2013, when Real Madrid were beaten by rival Atletico Madrid 2: 1 in overtime in the King’s Cup.
Ronaldo had won 12 consecutive finals with the club and the national team until meeting Lazio.
