Important victory of City, towards the new title in the Premier League

Manchester City won 1-4 against Liverpool at Anfield, thus making a 5-point break from Manchester United. City also has one game less than United. Five goals in this match were scored in the second half.

Liverpool did not manage to beat Manchester City at Anfield tonight and thus enter the race to defend the Premier League title.

The first half was much better for Liverpool who had a few chances to score but who did not use them properly.

City had the opportunity to take the lead in the first half when in the 37th minute Sterling was blocked in the area by Fabinho causing a penalty. However, Gundogan failed to score by hitting the ball outside the gate. There were no goals in the first half.

The second half started with a goal in its first minutes.

The first to take the lead were City where in the 49th minute Gundogan scored.

Liverpool would react and attack Ederson’s gate several times and after a mistake in defense Salah wins the penalty which he converts into a goal in the 63rd minute.

When it was thought Liverpool would be back in the game, that did not happen.

Initially City would have scored with Stones in the 71st minute but that was canceled as he was in the offside position.

But, Alisson seems to have not been in his best day tonight as he made two mistakes that sent City to two goals scored.

It was Gundogan who restored the lead again for City in the 73rd minute. Here most of the work was done by Phil Foden who assisted for the Turk.

The third goal for City was also a mistake of the goalkeeper after he gave a ball to Bernardo Silva where the latter assisted for Sterling who scored in the 76th minute.

The good match for Foden was rewarded as the Englishman would score a beautiful goal in the 83rd minute.

This victory makes City strengthen the top of the table with 50 points, 10 more than Liverpool which is in 4th place and 5 more than United which is in second place. City also have one game less than United so this difference could be bigger in the coming days.
