Just three shots on target from Barcelona’s 718 passes

Barcelona made a total of 718 passes, dominating the game in the King’s Cup clash with Ibiza on Wednesday. However, despite possessing 78 percent of the ball, Quique Setieni’s side made only three shots on goal throughout the game.

Barcelona’s trip to Ibiza proved to be no easy task, as Spain’s third-tier football club was close to causing the Catalans a huge disappointment in Wednesday’s showdown at the Copa del Rey.

Josep Caballe put Ibiza ahead after just nine minutes, a goal which the home side kept throughout the first half, as Barcelona appeared unable to concretize possession of the ball.

By the 72nd minute of the match, Barcelona had been in deficit for a goal. However, Antoine Griezmann equalized in the 72nd minute and then scored the winning goal in the 90th minute +4.

These two Griezmann goals were among only three Barcelona strikes within the opposing goal.

This statistic has bothered many Barcelona fans since, just three days ago, the Catalan club had completed 1005 passes against Granada, and the match had ended with a minimal 1:0 lead thanks to Lionel Messi’s goal.

Despite his team winning late last night, the new Barcelona coach was not at all impressed by what he saw from his team.

“I didn’t like the team. I would have liked things to have been different,” Setien told reporters after the match.
“But in stadiums like this… we find it harder to do our job. They were aggressive and intense in the defense. This has not been easy for us. ”

“I would have liked to be more precise and have played better. But we will draw some conclusions or lessons for the future from these. ”

“You can only get better when you do something wrong.”
