Juventus beat Genoa, but is still 12 points behind Inter

Juventus defeated Genoa on Sunday, in an important match for them in an attempt to secure a place in the Champions League next season.

Dejan Kulusevski, Alvaro Morata and Weston Kenneie scored once for the second consecutive victory of the whites at the Allianz Stadium, with Gianluca Scamacca scoring a consolation goal for the visitors.

The reigning champions, coming off a crucial victory for coach Andrea Pirlo’s future on Wednesday against Napoli, kicked off the match against Genoa furiously.

Kulusevski beat Perin with a beautiful goal from the left, after being served by Juan Cuadrado in the 4th minute, before Morata doubled the lead when scoring from a rebound after Cristiano Ronaldo hit the post from two meters in the minute of the 22nd.

Scamacca gave Genoa hope and motivation, narrowing the home side’s lead when he scored with a header in the 49th minute.

Genoa made great efforts and was close to equalizing several times, especially when Marco Pjaca shot over the bar from close range.

Juventus remains in third place now with 62 points, just one less than Milan and 12 less than leader Inter.

Napoli follows them with 59 points, while Atalanta is fifth with 58 points and one game less played.

Genoa remains in 13th place with 32 points, 10 points away from relegation.
