Klopp comments on speculation of Sancho’s transfer to Liverpool

Liverpool coach Jurgen Klopp has been trying to silence speculation linking his club to Borussia Dortmund star Jadon Sanchon, while acknowledging Liverpool could be ready to spend money during the January transfer window.

Earlier this week, world media reported that Jadon Sancho wanted to leave Dortmund in January and Liverpool were named the favorite club to secure his services.

Having become famous during the 2018/19 season, Sancho has been in good form this season too, but has had problems with coach Lucien Favre and remained on the bench for last week’s clash with Barcelona in the Champions League for disciplinary reasons.

Klopp has good relations with the Dortmund bosses, where he served as head coach from 2008 to 2015, but he said he was unaware of any attempts to transfer the new England star.

“He is a very good player. I have seen no sign of where these speculations may have come from, but it may not be from us because we have never spoken about it,” Kloppi said before the City derby against Everton on Wednesday.

“If we were involved, no one would know anything about it except a person who would never talk about it. I have nothing to say. I know what it sounds like, but I can’t change that. I have nothing to talk about, which means I have nothing to say.”

However, Klopp acknowledged that Liverpool may be willing to spend the money during the January transfer window.

“We don’t talk about it, but we are almost always ready to do something if we find it will help. We’ll see, I think the summer transition is more difficult because of the different moments when it closes in Europe,” Kloppi concluded.
