Klopp: French players too expensive for Liverpool
Jurgen Klopp has admitted that French stars Kylian Mbappe and Antoine Griezmann are inaccessible to European and world champions Liverpool.
Liverpool are unable to buy the world’s top stars, such as Mbappe and Griezmann, because of their high price, according to Klopp.
The Premier League leader has no Frenchman in the first team, although France won the World Cup last year.
Mamadou Sakho left for Crystal Palace in August 2017 and none of his compatriots have joined Liverpool in the last two years.
Asked why there are no Frenchmen in the squad, Klopp said: “There is no reason for that.”
“Kylian plays for PSG, Griezmann has joined Barcelona. Of course you know how strong your national team is. We would have liked a French player, but they are too expensive for us,” he added.
