Man United star: We’re losing to the average teams because of complacency

Jesse Lingard has questioned Manchester United’s mindset ahead of their upcoming Premier League match against Newcastle United.

Lingard believes United are having difficulty this season against mid-table teams in the Premier League because of complacency.

United have beaten big teams like Manchester City, Chelsea, Tottenham and Leicester City and have equaled Liverpool and Arsenal.

However, still Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team is no higher than eighth on the table.

The Red Devils have been brilliant in counterattacks thanks to fast players, but have faced serious difficulties against deep defending teams, beating Crystal Palace, West Ham, Newcastle United, Bournemouth and Watford.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, Lingard said: “It’s weird. Maybe it’s about mentality. Maybe it’s our pre-match mentality thinking we’ve already won the game.”

“If we maintain the consistency and mentality we had with City and Tottenham, there is no reason not to win every game,” he added.
