Maradona: “Pochettino should go to biggest team in the world, Boca Juniors”

Diego Maradona wants former Tottenham coach Mauricio Pochettino to become coach of Boca Juniors, a club Maradona considers the biggest in the world.

Mauricio Pochettino has been rumored for the post of Manchester United, Arsenal and Bayern Munich coach since he was sacked by Premier League club Tottenham last month.

Maradona – coach of the Gymnasia y Esgrima La Plata club, in the Argentine Super League – advised Pochettino to return to his hometown and become coach of Boca Juniors, looking for a new coach after the departure of Gustavo Alfaro.

“I will not go to Boca because I disagree with those who run the club. President Jorge Amor Ameal was there and it was a failure, he surrounded himself with people he believes can afford the club,” Maradona said.

“Boca should get a strategist who knows the importance of the club. It’s not easy to sit in that chair. The best of all is Maradona (laughs), but I won’t go.”

“But I would love to see Mauricio Pochettino there. “They have to call him and try to convince him to run the biggest club in the world.”

Boca ranks second in the Argentine Super League, one point behind leader Argentinos Juniors, while Gimnasia is in 21st position in the 24-team league.
