Matic Keen to Extend His Contract With Man United
Serbian midfielder Nemanja Matic has said he wants to stay at Manchester United and will turn down offers from other clubs if the Red Devils extend his contract.
Nemanja Matic could leave Old Trafford as a free transfer at the end of the season if Manchester United decide not to renew his current contract.
The 31-year-old has been in the club’s last six games in all competitions and scored the only goal in a 1-0 win over Manchester City in the Carabao Cup semi-final return match before being red carded.
Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola called Matic extraordinary in the post-match conference. The former Chelsea midfielder hopes Manchester United will reward him for this good form.
“I have a contract until the end of the season. I’m in Carrington (the club’s training center) every day and am open to talking if they think it can help the club. If not, life goes on,” Matic said.
“The negotiations have not been opened yet, but my position is clear. It’s a pleasure to represent this club. I have come here to win and if they want me to stay, of course I will do my best to win.”
Matic has the right to sign a pre-season contract at the end of the season with any club in Europe. He found that there were offers but that priority was staying at Old Trafford.
