Mike Gordon in plane drama as private jet SKIDS OFF airport runway
Liverpool’s managing owner Mike Gordon has escaped injury-free after the plane he slipped off the runway at Liverpool’s John Lennon Airport on Wednesday morning.
Fenway Sports Group president was on his way to Anfield for a scheduled meeting with the club board.
Gordon and three crew members were on the plane at the time, but they escaped without injury and did not need medical treatment.
“We can confirm that there was an incident around 6am when a private plane went down after landing on the runway,” the airport spokeswoman told British media.
The planes, which were expected to arrive at Liverpool from Salzburg today, where Liverpool played on Tuesday, headed for Manchester to avoid possible incidents.
Gordon is the second-largest owner of shares in Liverpool, after the principal owner and co-founder of Fenway Sports Group, John W Henry.
Liverpool secured qualification for the Champions League knockout stage on Tuesday night after beating Red Bull Salzburg 2-0.
