Mourinho strongly criticizes Man United after losing Tottenham
Tottenham coach Jose Mourinho has criticized Manchester United, saying his players cheated to win the foul by pretending to be injured in their 2-1 win in the Premier League on Wednesday.
Mourinho faced his first loss as a Tottenham coach last night at Old Trafford at the expense of Marcus Rashford’s two goals.
United took the lead early in the match, but Dele Alli equalized five minutes before halftime.
But a crucial game for the English striker, who won a penalty from which he scored the winning goal, prompted Mourinho to record his first defeat in Spurs’ fourth game in all competitions since being named coach last month.
While Mourinho conceded after the game that his team started the match slowly and it cost him, he could not without stinging the former team accusing its players of easy fouls.
“We start off bad, they start off well. They scored the first goal, they could have scored the second and in the first 30 minutes they were not only better than us, but much better than us. But things have changed in the last 15 minutes (of the second half),” Mourinho said.
“They went back a few steps, they were wise in how they got the fouls pretending to be injured, but they were dangerous on the counter, still,” he added.
“But because they were so much better than we were in the first 30 minutes, they deserved to win,” Mourinho concluded.
