Muller explains his secret

“People get tired of explaining to themselves or others how a player without special dribbling or physical skills can be so effective. When I was younger, it happened to me that people would watch my games, maybe even one where I would score a goal and ask me: “how did you do it?” Thus a kind of myth was created, when there is a perfectly logical explanation. One of my qualities is that I always try. Every striker knows that his initiatives can create danger, but not everyone has the strength to make 50 every game. Maybe 49 times they do not give the ball or even lose it, but this is the reason why you have to try again, because maybe next time the defender makes a mistake and scores. “It’s more logical than attributing a skill I don’t have.”

But in this Muller desire to always give the maximum, there is also a secret called Guardiola. A coach who, although he did not win the Champions in his Bavarian experience, has nevertheless left a mark.

“Our advantage was that Pep came after the triple triumph in 2013. Jupp Heynckes had just retired and Guardiola tried everything to have the same success. We did not have time to “sleep on the laurels”, as Pep wanted the maximum in every workout. He wanted to prove to the world that he could win another championship. For us, in that period, it was important that we could continue to win the Bundesliga. After Guardiola, it was 2 or 3 years where other teams had the opportunity to dethrone us. We had moments when we were weaker, even for weeks, but others did not benefit. Maybe we were lucky, I do not know. Or maybe we were, after all, the best. ”
