Napoli stops Inter, interrupts the series of consecutive victories

Napoli stopped Inter with a 1: 1 draw, interrupting the Nerazzurri with a series of 12 consecutive victories in Serie A on Sunday night.

Goalkeeper Samir Handanovic scored an own goal in the first half to give the locals the lead, but Christian Eriksen with a fantastic goal in the second half saved Inter from losing at the Diego Armando Maradona stadium.

Antonio Conte’s Inter had won the last 12 matches before the match with Gennaro Gattuo’s Napoli.

Inter and Napoli came to this meeting in order to take advantage of the failure of Juventus, which was defeated by Atalanta during the day.

But both teams started the meeting very slowly, studying each other’s every move.

Inter were unlucky to find themselves at a disadvantage, as before Handanovic put the ball into his own net in the 36th minute, Romelu Lukaku had shot the post twice.

Eriksen equalized the score using a perfect action of Inter, when he defeated the goalkeeper Meret with a rocket kick from about 25 meters distance.

Napoli were able to regain the lead but Matteo Politano’s shot from close range ended in the post.

Inter remains the leader with 75 points, nine more than Milan in second place and 11 more than Atalanta in third place.

Juventus drops to fourth place with 62 points, two less than Napoli in fifth place.

Lazio stays close to fifth place with 58 points, in a hot race for the top four.
