Official: Valencia sack Coach Marcelino
Marcelino is no longer Valencia’s coach after Tuesday’s meeting between owner Peter Lim and President Anil Murthy in Singapore.
Murthy landed in Valencia a few hours ago, where Marcelino was informed of the decision and the club issued an official statement on his departure.
The coach who has secured a return to the Champions League, donating another trophy to Valencia after 10 years, has been sacked due to disputes with the owner.
Marcelino leaves Valencia as one of the club’s best and famous mentors, three days before they face Barcelona and a week before Chelsea host the Champions League.
Marcelinon will replace Albert Celades, an inexperienced coach in La Liga Santander, having only been Julen Lopetegui’s assistant at Real Madrid.
Previously, he was Spain’s U-21 coach for four years (he lost the U21 European Championship final in Germany).
