Quagliarella reveals the most talented teammate
Fabio Quagliarella has said that Antonio Di Natale was his most talented teammate.
The Sampdoria striker has 173 goals in 493 Serie A games, being one of the best strikers in the history of Italian football.
“The difference between an artist and me is that I do not get inspiration from something, but it is true that I have read some situations in advance,” the 38-year-old initially told La Gazzetta dello Sport.
“I live for this. The movement of an attacker is a mixture of instinct, ballistics, coordination, dynamics, strength and luck. But if you score constantly, then you can say you have a natural quality.”
“I have always scored a certain type of goal. When I was a kid, I used to score in the style of ‘bike’ or goals from long distances. I have always tried to go beyond.”
Which goal would you have liked to have scored?
“It was my first match with Napoli. I tried to score from midfield, but hit the crossbar. I thought, ‘The last one to score from here was Maradona.'”
“I would be happier if I had scored that goal. To the question: ‘How many goals have you scored for Napoli?’ I would have answered: ‘One, from midfield. This is it”.
“Believe me. “I am still annoyed why I did not score.”
Who has been the most talented teammate?
“Di Natale, he was incredible. He scored whenever he wanted.”
“Sometimes he posts some videos of his goals on Facebook and I tell him, ‘Do not do it, or you will stop the development of some new players who think they are worth a lot just for a shot. When they see your goals, they will retire.”
“Now it is enough to score a goal to talk about a call to the national team. I played with monsters who scored 30 goals a season.” concluded Quagliarella.
