“Ramos makes mistakes that others cover up, but you can’t see that”
Athletic Bilbao’s Yeray believes Raphael Varane is a better defender than Sergio Ramos, saying the Real Madrid captain makes a lot of mistakes.
Yeray admits Ramos is one of the best defenders in the world at the moment, but insists he is as flawed as any other player.
Speaking in an interview with AS on the eve of the last match between Bilbao and Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu, Yeray said: “Ramos is one of the best in the world, but he has drawbacks, like everyone else.”
“He makes a lot of mistakes, but his teammates cover them and you don’t see that,” he added.
Asked to select a Real Madrid player, Ramos was not his favorite.
“He is very good, but I choose Varani before him,” he said.
