Ronaldo risks suspension for protests against the referee
Cristiano Ronaldo risks suspension. He was penalized with a yellow card and in protest of the referee threw the captain’s armband on the ground, leaving the green field a few seconds before the challenge ended.
His reaction to Dutch referee Makkelie could be interpreted as a serious violation of Article 11 of the FIFA disciplinary code by the Portuguese captain.
An unethical behavior with Ronaldo that risks suspension even though the striker’s protests are considered fair, as the ball had crossed the fatal line.
The referees did not consider that case as a goal and after the challenge with Serbia, the main referee of the match, Danny Makkelie, admitted the mistake.
If disqualified, Ronaldo could miss the next match with Portugal, namely the challenge against Luxembourg in the transfer.
