Ronaldo, the privileged of Juventus
Juventus have punished Weston McKennie, Arthur Melo and Paulo Dybala for violating the protocol, but treated Cristiano Ronaldo differently earlier this year.
Police intervened in an evening hosted by former Schalke 04 midfielder Wednesday night and Bianconeri coach Andrea Pirlo decided to punish the players involved.
Arthur and Dybala attended McKennie’s party and were left out of the Derby della Mole.
The club has decided to fine and suspend players, but denied there were more players attending the party at McKennie’s home.
“The three players involved are not called up for tomorrow’s game,” Pirlo told a pre-match press conference against Granata.
“They will continue to work with time and then we will see when [they return to the team]. I made the decision and the club did the rest.
Reactions in Italy have shown a different treatment for current players involved in a pandemic controversy than when Ronaldo was caught crossing the border to spend two days in the snow with his partner Georgina Rodriguez in January.
Il Corriere dello Sport later revealed that Ronaldo had been caught staying in an officially closed hotel to celebrate Georgina’s 27th birthday, crossing the border between Piedmonte and Valle D’Aosta.
“He had a day off and could do whatever he wanted,” Pirlo said at the time. “He takes responsibility for what he does.”
