“We are going to Istanbul to win the Champions League,” the Chelsea coach vowed

Thomas Tuchel has said that Chelsea are confident that they will beat Manchester City, after scheduling an all-English final in the Champions League, convincingly defeating Real Madrid 3: 1 in two semi-final matches.

Chelsea, who could end the season with two trophies won, are just one win away from European glory, thanks to goals from Timo Werner and Mason Mount against Real Madrid in Wednesday’s return match at Stamford Bridge.

The London club dominated Real Madrid in both games and Tuchel feels his boys will use the confidence gained from the triumph against Pep Guardiola’s FA Cup semi-final last month to meet City in the final on May 29 in Istanbul.

“It gives us a good feeling, it gives us self-confidence. We played that semi-final match like a knife, because Manchester City, with Bayern Munich, are a model. We wanted to close the gap with Manchester City in the semi-finals, which we did and we have to make an appearance of the same degree again,” said Tuchel.

“We had some big challenges in the Premier League. We came out of them strong, so we will go to Istanbul with confidence and positive energy. We will go to Istanbul to win, not to be one of the participants.” he added.

Chelsea, who play in the FA Cup final against Leicester City on May 15, have been fantastic since appointing Tuchel as coach in January.

Chelsea will face Premier League rival Manchester City in the final on May 29 in Istanbul.
