“Zidane told me to stay”
Kubo has revealed that it was not Zidane’s request to loan it to Mallorca
The 18-year-old, Take Kubo, is one of the brightest future footballers to even call himself ‘Leo Messi of Japan’.
In the summer of 2019, the former Barcelona academy player was transferred to the Santiago Bernabeu for 4.5 million euros.
It was thought he would stay in the first team, but the player himself opted for the loan to develop more as a player and moved to Mallorca.
Zinedine Zidane had told him he loves the first team and would give him minutes, but Kubo knows that as an 18-year-old, he would find it difficult to get minutes at the Bernabeu.
“When he finished pre-season in America, Zidane told me he wanted me at Real Madrid this season. But I spoke to him and told him that if I could get more minutes, I’d prefer to borrow,” Kubo said.
