Aguero: It’s too hard for Man City to catch Liverpool
Manchester City striker Serigo Aguero admits it will be very difficult for his team to replace Premier League leader Liverpool.
After defeating the reigning champions on Friday against Wolves, Liverpool extended their run to 10 Premier League victories, beating the same team 1-0 at Anfield thanks to Sadio Manes’ goal.
City regained their victory on Sunday night, beating Sheffield United 2-0 with goals by Agueros and Kevin de Bruyne, but still remain 14 points behind the Reds, plus one more game available to them.
With City currently ranked third with one point lower than second place, Leicester City, the Argentine striker feels his team is no longer in the title race, which would be third in the Premier League and that priority should now be to qualify for the Champions League next season.
“Now it’s very difficult to get Liverpool. We have to focus on the victories because we have to play in the Champions League next season, “Aguero told Reuters.
“We have to play like this and see what happens,” added Aguero, who has scored 10 goals in 15 Premier League games this season.
