Bale, about the whistles at the Bernabeu: I’m used to it now

Gareth Bale has said he has learned over time how to cope with the whistles of Real Madrid fans and has also backed Jose Mourinho to succeed Tottenham.

Real Madrid striker Gareth Bale has given an interview to British television BT Sport, where he spoke about whistling from Real Madrid fans and the appointment of Jose Mourinho as Tottenham coach.

“I thought the first time it happened to me [when I was whistled at by the fans], I was a little shocked. “I really didn’t know how to deal with what was going on.”

“But over time, it happened to me once or twice and you got used to it. Now, I just ignore it. In a way, respectfully, it’s the best place to whistle if it doesn’t play out properly. I understand that.”

“Of course, I just have to keep working as hard as I can and prove myself to the fans. Over time the whistles stop and you can continue your career in a normal way.”

Mourinho replaced Mauricio Pochettino as Tottenham coach late last month after the Argentine was dismissed from the position he had held for five years.

“It’s great for the club that now have Mourinho, I think he’s a Serie A winner. Tottenham want to win trophies and I don’t think there could be a better partnership than Tottenham with Mourinho to win trophies.”
