Bayern deny Sane pursuit.

Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich are not interested in chasing Manchester City winger Leroy Sane, according to chief executive Karl-Heinz Rummenigga. The German giants had spent most of the summer chasing Sane but City were holding out for a large fee for the international and no deal materialised.

Whether Bayern would have pushed for a move before the end of the transfer window remains to be seen because Sane suffered an Achillies tendon injury in the Community Shield which all but ended his season.

That has not stopped reports Bayern will make another move , either in January or next summer – for Sane but Rummenigge, the executive board chairman, has moved to shut down that speculation, saying that he did not want to talk about another club’s player.

“To be honest I have no eye on him at all because I don’t speak about players of other clubs in public,” he said.

“The FIFA rules don’t allow that anyway and I will always stick to that.”

Bayern still have a need for wide players following the departures of veteran wingers Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben in the summer and a fully fit Sane would be a useful addition but Rummenigga says it is not something they are thinking about right now,
