City denies contacts with Messi: “There are speculation, there have been no talks”
Manchester City show that they have not made any offer to Lionel Messi, although the contract of the Barcelona striker expires at the end of this season. The Argentine star is free to talk to non-Spanish clubs and for this reason his name has been linked with a transfer to some of the top European clubs such as Manchester City and Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain, who are seen as the main candidates.
It has recently been reported that the Premier League leaders have made a review of the offer for Messi, but a spokesman for the club told “Goal.com” that the latter are untrue speculations and that there was no conversation between them.
The media have repeatedly spoken of a possible interest of Manchester City in Lionel Messi, given that the English are led by former Barca coach Pep Guardiola and the two would like to reunite again.
The Premier League team is one of the few European clubs that can afford the high salary of Lionel Messi, while the British media have also talked about a pact with the Argentine, that after the adventure of the “citizens” he can play with other clubs of society, including New York City.
Messi will wait until the end of this season to decide on his future and the possibility of renewing his contract with Barcelona, ??the club where he has spent his entire football career so far, is not ruled out.
“Goal.com” reports that Messi is tired of these constant media speculations and that at the end of the season he will make an announcement regarding the club where he will play from next season onwards.
