Conte: “Special night for Inter”

Inter coach Antonio Conte believes his team’s return victory over Milan in the Della Madonnina derby will be a key moment in the season, while praising Sunday night as very special.

His speech at the break should have been spectacular, as Inter returned from the wreckage (2-0) to win 4: 2 thanks to goals from Marcelo Brozovic, Matias Vecino, Stefan de Vrij and Romelu Lukaku.

Only once before had the Nerazzurri won the derby even though they had lost at least two goals, the 6: 5 thriller in November 1949.

“It was a special night, that’s for sure. In the first half we were in big trouble, more than we have been so far this season and risk losing badly,” Conte told Sky Sport Italia.

“But we did a good job of restoring balance, understanding where we needed to improve, trusting in what we were doing and that is the merit of these guys. Besides the result, I’m happy to see them resisting pressure and overthrowing things, which means they are ready for something truly special,” he added.

This win means Inter are a Serie A leader but with Juventus equal to just one point more than Lazio.
