Conte: “We gifted Lazio their goals”
Inter coach Antonio Conte has complained that his team have given Lazio two goals, which were enough for a 2-1 defeat on Sunday at the Olympic Stadium in Rome.
Ashley Young had overtaken Inter at the end of the first half, scoring the first goal for the new club, but a penalty from Ciro Immobile and another goal from Sergey Milinkovic-Savic overturned the Contes team.
Conte compared this loss to those against Dortmund and Barcelona, ??during which Inter were leading the way, saying that his players were scared as they took the lead.
“I think we did well, but it was the result that I didn’t like and the way we conceded two goals; we thank Lazio for those goals,” Conte told Sky Sport Italia.
“We were very soft when we conceded goals. This season we have had other occasions when we were in the lead but then forgave the points, for example against Barcelona and Dortmund, matches that we had in hand but lost in the end,” he said.
