Gareth Bale’s Agent Says No to January Transfer, Summer Move ‘Very Unlikely’

Gareth Bale is not interested in leaving Real Madrid to join any US club during the January transfer window, claims his agent, Jonathan Barnett.

The Welsh striker continues to be the focus of media attention for his future, prompting interest from some clubs to move him from Real Madrid.

The 30-year-old has been rumored to move to several different clubs – at Manchester United or Tottenham in England and most recently at a Major League Soccer American club.

Bale’s agent, Jonathan Barnett, has told ESPN that the Welshman is not interested in US bids, despite interest from LA Galaxy and Inter Miami.

“Bale will not go anywhere in January and his departure from Real Madrid is unlikely to happen in the summer,” Barnett said in an interview with ESPN.

Bale has a contract at the Santiago Bernabeu until 2022, a contract he signed in October 2016. However, he was expected to leave during the summer transfer window when coach Zinedine Zidane made it clear he was not part of of his plans.

The 30-year-old’s salary and the fact that Real Madrid will not allow a player to sell his status without an impressive amount make the Welshman’s options limited, as many clubs cannot afford his transfer.
