Griezmann: Neither Barcelona, nor the fans nor the players deserved to be eliminated
Antoine Griezmann is extremely disappointed with Barcelona’s elimination from the Champions League, saying that the club, players and fans did not deserve such an early elimination from the competition.
Barcelona traveled to Paris for the return match of the 1/8 finals on Wednesday, aware that they had to cross a mountain to reach the quarterfinals.
Coach Ronald Koeman’s team lost the first game 4: 1 at the Camp Nou thanks to a hat-trick by Kylian Mbappe, so they had to score at least four goals in Paris to hope.
Barca made great efforts to achieve this and created many opportunities, but were not effective enough in front of the gate to achieve the goal.
Mbappe gave PSG the lead from a controversial penalty, before Lionel Messi equalized with a great shot. But Keylor Navas received the Argentine’s penalty and made a lot of other catches until the end to help PSG advance to the quarterfinals with an overall score of 5: 2.
Speaking after the match, the French striker said: “This match we played tonight gives us confidence in what awaits us in the future. But we are disappointed because we wanted to move on.”
“Neither the fans nor we players deserved to be eliminated so early.” he added.
