If Verratti is close to extending his contract with PSG, his salary will be doubled
Italy midfielder Marco Verratti is reportedly close to signing a new contract with Paris Saint-Germain worth 12m euros per season.
According to the Italian media outlet Calciomercato.com, talks are at a “very advanced” stage to extend Verratti’s agreement until 2024.
The Italian is currently earning seven million euros, with the new contract earning almost double his salary.
Calciomercato also adds that he has been promised the captain’s armband, with Thiago Silvan filling 35 years later this month and out of contract next summer.
The 26-year-old joined PSG from Pescara in 2012 and has continued to make nearly 300 appearances for the French giants, winning six Ligue 1 titles.
He has 34 appearances and three goals for Italy but has never played in Serie A.
