‘I’m not afraid’ – Pele rejects claims that he is too depressed to leave his house
Brazilian legend Pele has denied concerns about his health, insisting he is fine and not afraid.
Pelé’s son, Edinho, said a few days ago that his father was depressed and refused to leave his home because of problems with his groin.
However, three-time World Cup winner Pele – who turns 80 in October – denied those concerns on Thursday.
“Thank you for your prayers and concerns. I am fine. I’ll turn 80 this year. I have good and bad days. This is normal for people my age,” Pele said in a statement released.
“I’m not afraid, I’m committed and confident in what I do. Last week I was lucky enough to meet the president of the Brazilian Football Confederation in the studio where I was filming my documentary.
“I had two photography sessions last month for campaigns using my photos and statements.”
“I have some other events planned. I do not avoid the meetings I have on my busy agenda. I continue to accept my physical limitations in the best way I can, but I tend to move on. God bless you all.”
