Just 5 million euros separate Granit Xhaka from leaving Arsenal

Granit Xhaka is on the verge of leaving Arsenal, the five million-euro pledge his club is seeking in Hertha Berlin’s bid to allow the Albanian midfielder to leave in January.

The chances for Xhaka to play for Arsenal again are slim, given the player’s own desire to get away with the fanfare he devoted to losing the captain’s ribbon months ago.

But the North London club do not want to let the Swiss representative leave for less than 40m euros.

Hertha Berlin have offered 35 million euros for Xhaka, five less than Arsenal are asking for, an insignificant sum that is the only obstacle to reaching an agreement on the 28-year-old’s return to the Bundesliga.

The new Gunners coach, Mikel Arteta, has made it clear how much he appreciates the Albanian, pointing out that he loved Manchester City a few years ago.

But Xhaka manager Jose Noguera has revealed that the former Basel star and Borussia Monchengladbach have reached an agreement with Hertha Berlin and that it is now up to the clubs only to agree on his transfer.

So it is now up to the two clubs to reach an agreement on the amount of transfer of Xhaka, who can now play his final game in the Arsenal jersey in the London derby against Chelsea in the Premier League.
