Klopp confirms that Liverpool’s ‘kids’ will play FA cup replay
Liverpool coach Jurgen Klopp will play ‘baby’ in the FA Cup repeat match against Shrewsbury and hand over the lead to U23 coach Neil Critchley due to winter break.
Shrewsbury made a remarkable comeback by drawing 2:2 with the Reds in the FA Cup fourth round on Sunday, making the match repeat at Anfield – but without the stars of the European champion.
The match is set for the first week of February during the winter break introduced in the Premier League last season and Klopp says he does not intend to derail his plans because of this.
“In April 2019, we received a letter from the Premier League in which they asked us to respect the winter break, not hosting friendly or competitive matches,” Klopp said.
“And we will respect that. Two weeks ago I told the boys that we would have a winter break,” he added.
“It means we won’t be there,” he said. The children will play in this meeting,” he concluded.
