Liverpool legend Ian Rush: The match against Real Madrid will be really fun

Former Liverpool striker and legend Ian Rush has spoken after the draw for the quarterfinals of the Champions League, where the Reds will face Real Madrid.

The draw for the quarterfinal pairs was made today (Friday) in Nyon, Switzerland, where fate wanted two old rivals like Real and Liverpool to play against each other.

After the draw, they spoke from the Reds camp, where the legend Rush has shown some memories, while expecting a fun confrontation against two European rivals.

“Real Madrid, they have been more successful in this race than anyone else,” Rush said after the draw.

“Just the name itself, no matter what kind of players you have, just the name ‘Real Madrid’ comes to mind, just like Liverpool, so I think it will be really fun.”

“This match brings back memories for me, when in 1981, quite strangely, I played in the semi-final against Bayern, but the final was against Real Madrid, in Paris.”

“I was on the bench in that game, so it just brings back so many memories, and they are two great teams with a great reputation,” the Reds legend concluded.
