Magic stats for the Real Madrid star: 27 golden minutes of Marco Asensio

Real Madrid are used to living through close matches this season, but in the last two games they gave a relief by winning by a margin of two goals, and in those two games it was Marco Asensio who played with stars outside the bench.

The 25-year-old has played a total of 27 minutes in the last two games, but those have been 27 golden minutes compared to the previous 1,889 minutes on the field.

Asensio scored two goals in 27 minutes of play, which is just as much as he had produced for the entire season before this time.

Los Blancos have survived almost exclusively with Karim Benzema’s goals this season, with Casemiro still the club’s second best scorer with six.

Asensio’s two goals have made him move within a season a form higher than the other four past seasons, which is still disappointing, but it is at least one step in the right direction.

Much was expected of Asensio when Cristiano Ronaldo left, and in an ideal world if the Spaniard had done what Florentino Perez had expected to do, there would not have been Eden Hazard in the Spanish capital at the moment.

However, a serious knee injury has limited his development and he is now suffering from being part of a detached attacking system on Zinedine Zidane’s team, which seems to be shaking completely if Benzema is not there.

In 32 games this season, Asensio had scored two goals and made two assists, which are not the numbers you need from a much-anticipated talent.

However, Asensio’s 27-minute blast in the last two weeks has given supporters hope that they will once again see the best of talent.
