Manchester City join Barcelona in the race for Martinez
Manchester City have joined Barcelona in the race for Inter striker Lautaro Martinez, according to Sky Sport Italia.
The Argentine striker Martinez has formed an excellent partnership with Romelu Lukaku at Inter this season, scoring 13 goals and 3 assists in 19 Serie A and Champions League games.
Barcelona have not hidden their interest in the 22-year-old, with Lionel Messi urging club leaders to invest in his compatriot.
Manchester City have now entered the race for him, according to Sky Sport Italia, aiming to activate his release clause.
Martinez has a clause in his current contract with Inter, which allows him to leave if any club outside Italy pays 111m euros for him.
The clause can only be activated during certain summer weeks.
Inter are in talks with Martinez’s manager for a new contract, in which his clause will either be scrapped or increased.
