Maradona chooses the best in history, ignoring Ronaldo and Messi

Diego Maradona has named his Argentine compatriot Alfredo Di Stefano as the best player in history, saying he was superior to Maradona and Pele himself.

Current Gimnasia de La Platas coach Diego Maradona is often named the best player of all time because of his achievements with Barcelona, ??Napoli and the Argentine national team.

And while the former Argentine striker believes he has accomplished enough to be the protagonist in such debates, he believes another Argentine is the best in the world – Di Stefano.

“I think the best is Di Stefano. He was superior to everyone – even compared to me. Pele didn’t want to be aware of Di Stefano’s talent, ”Maradona said in an interview with TyC Sports’ Libero.

“Pelé’s companions invented a special trophy for him, to be a living football legend. I even beat Pelé in Rio in the race for the best in history. ”

Now that Messi has won the Ballon d’Or for the sixth time, Maradona said he would have many Ballon d’Or, but also praised his compatriot in Barcelona.

“I think I would have a lot of Golden Balls, but what Messi is doing is extraordinary. I would never want to face Messi. He comes home, plays soccer, doesn’t sing the national anthem and they say to the Catalans. “I don’t criticize Messi as some do.”
