Messi on Bryant’s death: “I have no words, a true genius abandoned us”
Lionel Messi has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic death of American basketball legend Kobe Bryant, saying a true genius had just left the world.
Bryant and his 13-year-old daughter, Gianna, along with seven others, died Sunday from the crash of the helicopter they were traveling in.
The 41-year-old, who spent 20 years with the NBA basketball team Los Angles Lakers, lost his life when the helicopter he was traveling in exploded after crashing into a hillside in Calabasas as a result of fog.
The Argentine star of Barcelona, ??Messi, who was known to Bryant in the commercials that they put together for the big world companies, has expressed condolences to the family of the deceased.
“I have no words… I am mentally with Kobe’s family and friends. It has been a pleasure to meet him and spend some fun time together. A real genius left us,” Messi wrote on social media.
Bryant and Messi had formed a friendship years ago and the Argentine wished him a pleasant retirement from basketball in 2015.
