Mourinho explains why he lived in Hotel while at Man Utd

Jose Mourinho has explained why he was living at the Lowry Hotel during his time as Manchester United coach before his return to Old Trafford on Wednesday night.

Having taken over Tottenhammin from Mauricio Pochettino sacked last month, Jose Mourinho will now be reunited with the club that sacked him last year.

Before the match, he was asked about his lifestyle during his time in Manchester, following media reports that it was precisely this lifestyle that brought him unhappiness while working at the Dream Theater.

However, Mourinho disagreed and reacted quickly to refute those claims.

“Do you know how unhappy I would have been? I would have been very unhappy if I had lived in a single house,” Mourinho said.

“I would have to clean, I don’t want to do that. I would have to iron my clothes, I can’t do that. I would have to cook, I would just eat eggs and sausage, these are the only things I know how to do.”

“I would have been very unhappy. I lived in a great apartment, it wasn’t just a room and it was always mine. It’s not that I had to change places every week. That apartment was mine.”

Mourinho will take on Tottenham at Old Trafford tonight, following two consecutive Premier League victories against West Ham and Bournemouth, results that have elevated his squad to sixth.

Manchester United, meanwhile, have drawn their last two Premier League games against Sheffield United and Aston Villa, remaining 10th in the table.

Reflecting on his time at Old Trafford, Mourinho insisted he had not regretted anything: “I learned and am now a better coach than I was then.”
