Muller-Lewandowski, the most productive partnership in the top-5 European leagues

Over the years there have been many dynamic doubles in football that have seemed telepathic.

Football data consulting company Driblab has been collecting data on attacking doubles over the past three years in the top five European leagues to see who has been the best pair in Europe.

Using data from the 2018/19, 2019/20 and 2020/21 seasons, there are two pairs that are much more than the others.

Robert Lewandowski and Thomas Muller have managed to combine for 14 goals in the last three seasons, of which eight came in the final season when Muller assisted on Lewandowski.

The second pair come from Ligue 1, with Angel Di Maria providing 13 assists for Kylian Mbappe.

Next is the Spurs attacking duo, Son Heung-min and Harry Kane, with both players assisting each other 10 times, a total of 20 goals between them.

Joshua Kimmich has also provided 10 assists for Lewandowski, a statistic equaled by Mbappe assisting Neymar over the last three seasons.

The Spanish team’s partnerships are in order, with a total of nine goals scored: Luka Modric has assisted Karim Benzema on nine occasions, while Lionel Messi and former team-mate Luis Suarez have also assisted on nine goals for each other.
