Officially Bayern against the Super League, speaks Rummenigge

Bayern Munich is officially against the creation of the European Super League.

Bayern issued a statement a few moments ago, where Karl-Heinz Rummenigge spoke.

Commenting on plans to introduce a European Super League, FC Bayern Munich CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said: “FC Bayern has not been involved in plans to create a Super League. We are convinced that the current structure in football guarantees a solid foundation. FC Bayern welcomes the Champions League reforms because we believe they are the right step to take for the development of European football. “The modified group stage will contribute to an increase in excitement and emotional experience in the competition.”

Rummenigge also said he did not believe the Super League would solve the clubs’ financial problems caused by the pandemic.

“I do not believe that the Super League will solve the financial problems of European clubs that have arisen as a result of the coronavirus pandemic. On the contrary, all clubs in Europe need to work in solidarity to ensure that the cost structure, especially the salaries of players and agents, is brought in line with revenue, to make all European football more rational.”
