Pirlo and Ronaldo are the future of Juventus, says the club’s sports director
Juventus sporting director Fabio Paratici has admitted that the Whites’ appearance against Benevento was not up to the club’s standard, but has insisted that coach Andrea Pirlo and striker Cristiano Ronaldo remain part of the future strategy.
Juventus’ hopes of defending the Serie A title have faded significantly after the shocking 1-0 defeat against Benevento on Sunday in Turin.
The Whites are now 10 points behind leaders Inter, and have equal points with Atalanta but only two points ahead of fifth-placed Napoli.
This was the fourth defeat of the season for Juventus and came against a team that had not enjoyed victory in the last 11 games in the league.
“It was a poor performance, but the season goes on, so we have to keep our heads up, keep working and understand our mistakes so that we do not repeat them.” said Paratici.
Paratici insists that this defeat will not change anything in the future of coach Pirlo and team star Ronaldo.
“ We have a project that we started last season and a match will not change our views and strategy. We are Juventus, we have Cristiano Ronaldo, the best player in the world and we will keep him,” he said.
Regarding Pirlo, he added: “We were not happy with the previous coaches, but we had other reasons why we decided to change. A loss will not change the club’s project, nor just a win. We are continuing the project.”
